BAIT-CAL ACQUIRES MOVIE RIGHTS TO
MARILYN MONROE STORY

The Diary of Marilyn Monroe

LOS ANGELES, CA - BAIT-CAL Worldwide announced on Friday they have completed a deal to acquire movie rights to a new book about Hollywood legend Marilyn Monroe. The book is an amazing true-life story of an African-American man in the early 1960’s who finds himself in the middle of one of the most intriguing mysteries of the 20th century.

"This deal has been more than 3 years in the making," stated Lon Muqaddin, V.P. of Operations for BAIT-CAL. "We are extremely happy for the opportunity to bring this unheralded tale to the big screen."

The story is about Lionel Grandison, the deputy coroner who investigated the Marilyn Monroe death and signed her death certificate. At age 22, Grandison was the youngest African –American to ever work in the Coroners office. A married-man with 3 kids he had worked hard to receive his position as Deputy Coroner. However the events that began to unfold to him on the morning of August 5, 1962 would forever change his life.

In an excerpt from his memoirs he writes: ‘

By the time Marilyn’s body got downtown, the office was frantic with phone calls. Newspapers from around the world wanted to know if her death was a suicide as it was being reported. Fox Studios and LAPD were already issuing press releases and holding press conferences describing her death as a suicide.

I spent most of the afternoon on the phone telling people we didn’t have any information and the cause of death was pending further investigation. You should have heard some of the things they said.

Finally Coroner’s representative Danbacker, who had been to the house, brought the medical information and personal property to my desk. I asked him if the police knew of any next of kin and he told me no husband, no kids and apparently no family. He also noticed that she had died much earlier than reported and a filing cabinet containing her personal papers had been forcibly opened but he got what he could find.

Fox Studios couldn’t produce a document with her signature on it that authorized them to handle funeral arraignments. Her property consisted of some a purse and when l looked in the purse there was about $30.00 in cash, some jewelry and a book that appeared to be a diary or notebook.

"Coroner's File #81128: The Marilyn Monroe Case" presents a real life account of what happened the night Marilyn Monroe died and one man’s struggle to find the truth about her death and the conspiracy that tried to keep him quiet.

"When we read the manuscript, it stunned us all. Lionel Grandison is an African-American hero," said Muqaddin. "The facts he reveals that surround her death are far-reaching and involve some of the most prominent names in American History."

The film's screenplay is currently being written, but no production date has been set. The book is scheduled for release in 2012, which marks the 50-year anniversary of Marilyn's death.

"This story shakes the very foundation of a 50-year old mystery." said Muqaddin. "BAIT-CAL is proud to acquire these story rights and we look forward to delivering an amazing film."
